Domestic & Commercial Air Testing in Blackpool, Lancashire
Do I need an airtightness test?
It is a government requirement for any new build development to undergo an air test. Air testing or air leakage testing is a general term which is used for the amount of air loss from a property.
In contrast to general airflow. These include draughts and voids within the building fabric.
Without an airtightness test being carried out, this could lead to the owner of the new build property to experience a loss of heat.
This is why it is important to find out in the early stages as to whether there is any air leakage.

How is an air leakage test carried out?
The air testing procedure is carried out in Blackpool by placing a large industrial fan, or several fans (depending on the size of the dwelling) on the opening to the property. In most cases, this would be the front door.
All the internal doors of the property will remain open to enable the whole property to be pressurised.
The fans speed will alternate which will change the air pressure of the building. These results will be recorded.
The estimation results consist of the readings from the wall surfaces, floor and roof covering.
The whole process takes about 60 minutes for each individual new build property tested. A full report of the air test is provided once complete.
What air permeability rating is required?
An air test pass is 5m3/hr/m2 or below for an air permeability rating which is similar to the amount of uncontrolled air that is being lost or leaking from the dwelling.
In the unlikely instance where the test fails, we will guide you to identify where the leakages are located so we can re-test in order to give you a pass.
