PGGH has secured an agreement to redevelop the Abersoch hotels site and is set to bring to life the hotel and apartments scheme.

The venue will comprise 42 luxury bedrooms and suites, a destination restaurant, bar with sea-view terraces, function facilities, gym, spa with swimming pool, treatment rooms, and thermal suite.

Charlie Openshaw, development director at PGGH, said: “We are delighted to begin work on this very exciting development. It will bring much-needed hotel accommodation to the Llyn peninsula and open the destination and Wales to an international audience.”

Eighteen apartments will be set on the top two floors above the hotel.

Redevelop the North Wales site in Abersoch

“It is no secret that demand for holiday accommodation is at an all-time high in Abersoch,” added Openshaw. “This substantial new-build development is based on the footprint of the old Whitehouse Hotel and has the advantage of meeting some of that demand without displacing or converting residential properties in the town.”

PGGH, which will retain ownership of the site, is partnering with Bespoke Hotels.

Economic benefits and jobs in Gwynedd, North Wales

Gwynedd county councillor Dewi Wynn Roberts said: “If the peninsula is to take advantage of the economic benefits and jobs that luxury tourism brings, yet without displacing local communities, then it is exactly this type of high quality and sympathetic new build development which is going to be needed.

“The impact on the local economy, both during construction, and afterward, when jobs and tourism spend is more tangible, will be of great benefit to the community.

“There will be opportunities for high-quality employment for local young people in hospitality in conjunction with local colleges and apprenticeship schemes.”

The Importance of Air Tightness in Modular Construction

Air tightness plays a pivotal role in modular construction, enhancing energy efficiency, comfort, and overall building quality. By minimising air leakage, buildings can achieve significant energy savings, which allows for less intensive insulation materials and contributes to environmental sustainability. Beyond energy efficiency, airtight structures help create healthier indoor environments by preventing drafts, moisture issues, and pollutant infiltration, thereby reducing the risks of mould and structural damage. Despite challenges such as damage during transport and complications from field modifications, employing strategies like pre-cutting penetrations at the factory and opting for split HVAC systems can significantly uphold air tightness, aligning with stringent standards like those of the Passive House.
